5 Miles of Hell

I don’t know why, but this week I can’t seem to run even a short one.  I feel like crap.  I did 5 today.  I ran 2.5, walked a bit, finished the three and then took about 1/2 hour break and then was mad I hadn’t ran the goal of my training schedule and so did the last two.  It was hot here-95 degrees.  Ouch.  I am sure the heat plays into my fatigue.  I stay hydrated-drinking before and after the run. I think these runs are going to get worse and worse as it gets warmer and the summer hits full-force.

    hmmm… Just a thought -

It could be that have slightly over trained and your body hasn’t recovered.

Or you are just starting to get sick.

Those have been my past experiences.

    Good Luck!

I do think I overtrained a bit. I also think I need some better nutrition and hydration to keep going at these higher levels. I got some good advice from a friend of mine who suggested I eat more protien. I know carbs are amainstay of runners but I think I am a bit protien difficent which makes it tough for my body to repair the damage these longer runs do.

Good advice on the protein. Most runners don’t get enough. Even runners only need 50 % of calories from carbs - preferably whole wheat.
