Crankin’ Out the 8 Mile, Long Run of the Week

I was in sorry shape last week.  Every run seemed to take forever and was pure hell.  I think in large part since I was not hydrating during the run.  To compound that problem, I was running late in the afternoon or evening and suffering in the heat.  My schedule with work and my daughter leaves little time to run which is why I was doing it later in the day.

I knew I had no chance of completing the 8 mile unless I did it in the early am.  I had a free day on Tuesday and woke up at 5:30.  I ususally get up then and just got the cloths on and went at it.  I wore the Camelbak-which worked great!  I hammered out the miles without any problem.  I took a while-about an hour and a half but I did it with no stopping, not gasping, no major melt downs.  I did a lot of mental distraction techniques to keep myself going. 

 I was actually one of the better runs I have had.  Making progress everyday.
