Marathon Equipment I Use

Camelbak-I am under the impression that I need to start hydrating on the long-ass runs.  I know that water is an essential component to keeping my biochemical processes going-gotta keep my cells pumping out the energy by keeping them hydrated.  I just ordered this bad boy and I will let you know how it works.

Nike Plus-I reviewed this in an earlier post.  I would love to hear anyone’s comments on how this works for anyone else out there.

Nike Plus Pouch Option I use-so far this is a great tool as I am not stuck using the Nike shoes.  I runin Brooks.  More on those later.

Nike Plus Pouch Option II-I thought this was a pretty good option.  It looks like it might hold the sensor tigher which would improve accuracy.

I like the marware pouch. I have used it in light rain and had no problems. It is also easy to put on or remove from shoes. I also would go with the marware relay wrist wrap instead of the nike armband.

Oh my goodness! I never bought it because I do have perfects shoes and didn’t want to buy special shoes for it. But that pouch thingy is brilliant! Of course it’s more expensive in Germany and I need to wait one week for it, but as soon as it arrives I’d be up for a challenge!

Fun stuff, I came here through the shoemoney blog btw. ;)

    Cheers,
    Andreas

I love my Nike+ iPod! I used to use a $5 shoe key pouch from sports authority and Nike Free 5.0 shoes. I dumped that in favor of the Nike+ shoes that had a cut out for the sensor. I like that setup a lot better. Also in Florida there are a lot of gnat’s after it rains so running glasses are essential on those days. (There is still no cure for sniffing them up while breathing though. NASTY!) Instead of the Camelbak I just try and find a route that goes by parks so I can stop and drink. Running with that thing on your back seems annoying.

Yeah, I’m really interested in how well you like the camel pack. I agree with Rush. That thing is annoying. You should make dillsmack bring your water halfway through for running his mouth and ever thinking he could beat you.

  5. Coach Says:

If you ever get sick of running with a Camelbak, try a Fuel Belt. Carrying water and gel around your waist is much more comfortable.

  6. Coach Says:

Oh and one more thing - if you’re out there for hours at a time, drink something with electrolytes instead of just plain water. Gotta watch out for hyponatremia! :)

I used the camelbak in the Army for long marches. I don’t know how well it will work with running. Let us know!

I am doing my first run in the am with the camelbak. I have heard great things about the fuel belt so I might look into that.

And…I like that idea about Dillsmack. Maybe I can get him to come to the marathin and cheer me on. That way I am sure to finish as I can see him standing at the finish line…
